Portrait of Michelle

At 24, and two years after starting as a Brand Ambassador in Rotterdam, Michelle is becoming a Geninc franchisee in Antwerp. Find out about this dedicated young entrepreneur, who left her job in health and social care and moved to another country to build a bright future for herself.

What did you do before you became a Brand Ambassador?

I wanted more for myself so I left and started to look for something that would allow me to have a real career, and the opportunity to continually develop.

I worked in social health care in Holland. Helping people with physical injuries, mental illnesses and addiction. It was as rewarding as it was tough. I felt very great helping to make a difference in those people’s lives, but there weren’t great career opportunities in it : it takes 5 years to get promoted and the salary wasn’t in line with where I wanted to be.

I wanted more for myself so I left and started to look for something that would allow me to have a real career, and the opportunity to continually develop.

What is your experience as a Brand Ambassador?

Well it’s exactly what I was looking for! Except I didn’t realise that  right away! I had zero experience in sales, and I kept wondering if knocking on doors was really what I wanted! But in my first week, my coach saw I was ambitious and wanted more, so he showed me the business development program.  After seeing all the skills I could learn, and all the progression that was possible. I knew this was the right place for me!. I told him I wouldn’t stop until I opened my own Geninc franchise. And look at me, I did it!

I was committed to succeeding. The next two years were packed full of travel, amazing experiences, networking with amazing entrepreneurs, coaching, education, and having fun in the field.

Two months after I started, I had the opportunity to move to Belgium to follow my coach, and develop a new business there. It was rough to leave my family and friends behind, but I was committed to succeeding. The next two years were packed full of travel, amazing experiences, networking with amazing entrepreneurs, coaching, education, and having fun in the field. I focused on building myself, following the development program and I  had the best time doing it!

What is going to change now that you are a franchisee?

Nothing will really change. As a franchisee my mission is to coach Brand Ambassadors and help them succeed. That’s what I’ve been doing as a coach for the best part of the last two years. The only difference is that it’s my own business and my responsibility now.

My mission is to coach Brand Ambassadors and help them succeed. That’s what I’ve been doing as a coach for the best part of the last two years.

I’ve worked so hard to develop my skill set and open my own franchise,I’ve reached my goal, and that gives me confidence. I’m going to keep working hard to be an example for the people I’m coaching, and other BA’s in the Geninc community.

What are your goals now that you run your own business?

First I want to see how the first year unveils. It’s always a critical period for a new business. I’m not worried because I know that I have all the support from Geninc to help me succeed.

My goal is to keep growing every year and then maybe expand to Holland, and open a Geninc coworking hub in my hometown !

3 tips for a future franchisee?
